VISION HOUSE FAMILY CARE CENTER
(50th and Vincennes):

With the success of Vision House apartments, Interfaith Housing has initiated phase II, Vision House Family Care Center, devoted to children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. A 30 year land lease with option to renew for an additional 10 years has been approved by the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

Vision House Family Care Center was awarded the prestigious First Place "Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design" at the 10th Annual Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards February 3rd 2004.

The core of supportive services is a model program of respite care and support for HIV/AIDS affected children and families. The Center will offer full day child care, mental health counseling, play therapy and on-site parental support groups. Case management, emergency assistance and food distribution services will also be available. Through effective community exploration and pathfinding, the Vision House Family Care Center has developed the support of a wide range major agencies and providers. In addition the Center has been awarded a $4 million grant from the State of Illinois.
